I witnessed something that was life-changing. One of my family members stooped over confidently to pick up the other family member. I stood behind the family member as he prepared to move the family member from their chair to the car.
The family I'm describing is twice my size, several inches taller than me, and extremely towering. I would describe him as the human version of the Hulk! Before the family member transferred the other family member, he asked her a question. He said, "Do you trust me?" He asked her again, "Do you trust me?" He told her to hold on, and he picked her up and moved her from her chair to the car.
Can I be honest with you? The family member's question reverberates in my head to this day. I cannot get it out of my head. The question is so profound that it has invaded my space and infiltrated my thoughts.
Can I talk to you for a moment? Have you been dropped before? Your drop may have been a miscarriage. You were planning for the baby's arrival, getting the room ready, having baby showers, and getting smiles from people as they saw the bump precede you as you walked. Suddenly, something happens in your body that yields you the result of losing the baby. That feels like being dropped.
You were planning the wedding, daydreaming as you paused to look at the engagement ring in awe of its sparkle. All of a sudden, out of the blue, he changes his mind.
You get an unfavorable diagnosis from the doctor and haven't told anyone. That feels like being dropped.
You raised your baby boy to be respectful, honest, and walk in integrity, and now you're visiting him in prison.
All of these are moments of being dropped!
Then God dares to ask, "Do you trust me?"
Like my family member, the Lord is big, strong, towering, and more powerful than the thing in your life that needs to be lifted. You are carrying the world's weight on your shoulders, and God is waiting on you to respond to Him; hold on tight, and let Him carry you when you feel like your problem is too heavy to be lifted.
Nothing is too hard for God, BUT you have to decide if you will ignore your experiences of being dropped and let God genuinely minister to you. I know that you feel inadequate. I know that you are scared. I know you have more testimonies of being dropped than being carried, but choose to trust God. Trust in the Lord with all your might and strength. He will add his power to your trust and move you from faith to faith and from glory to glory. You haven't moved in years, and it's because you have decided against opening up yourself to trust again. You cannot allow what you know to impede the request of what you need.
Watching my family member move my other family member reminded me of the scripture in Isaiah 53 that says, "Yet it was our weaknesses He carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed."
Jesus has the power to carry you. You may be saying, "Please don't drop me!" But God is saying, "Please let me carry you!" Let's trust again and let God do what no one else can do!
